Winter tyres use a tread rubber compound (high silica content) and have a tread pattern specifically designed to retain flexibility in low temperatures (below +7C). The tread on these tyres is much more flexible, giving a better grip and safer braking.
The old Summer tyres are now hibernating in Adrian's shed, waiting for Spring!
